new arrivals

We are surprised by an early wee man for Nadine and Francis! After 16 hours labour he arrived at 4pm on Christmas Eve at 7lb 2oz and is named Isaac Grant Persico.
We’re happy to report Jo delivered Conner Samuel Daly at 5.12am Tuesday 27 December after a c-section. He was induced and waters broken but too distressed to deliver naturally. He is 6 pound 2 ounces and feeding well.

Oasis Cafe

After the Dad’s group met the night before at Crusader’s Bar, the Mum’s got together at Oasis Cafe to catch up and chat about progress. It was wonderful to hear Julie’s news that she has a birthday for the twins – we’ll be thinking of her on the 28 December. Our next meeting is 9 Jan, 2006 at Carla’s house in Richmond.

Donna’s House

Angela and Adrienne drove to Donna’s house to see how she was coping only a week from having wee Brynley. We couldn’t believe how organised and composed she was! What a darling little sweetheart of a baby she has.

New Babies!

You’ve probably already heard about Tania’s beautiful wee boy born a week ago now (1st December – 9lbs 6). He was two weeks overdue so everyone was very pleased to see him! Still waiting to hear your final name choice, Tania!

I was lucky enough to visit Donna’s new wee boy yesterday before he was even 24 hours old…. After a whole weekend of 1st stage labour at home, Donna was pleased to have a short and natural 2nd stage with no complications. “Take the drugs!” is her overwhelming advice to those of us still with bumps. He was born just before all the thunder and lightening yesterday morning at exactly 8lbs – what a welcome to the world! He still has “Baby of Donna” on his wrist bands because a final name choice hasn’t been decided either!

Angela brought 6 week old Ewan to the Richmond pool for the first time yesterday and we had a great swim. She has lived through the first six weeks and is happy to give any advice to those of us embarking on this new journey. Lorene and Jo were also swimming and spend the whole time comparing their “2 weeks to go” aches and pains. Welcome to Annie who joined us for the first time – hope you enjoyed the wave pool!

We got to watch the Piggyback class while we did our aquajogging on Tuesday and at one stage they had three minders for the babies on the side of the pool as well as the instructor teaching the class. Remember, you can do the class for free to see if you like it – you might have seen the article in last week’s Leader about Nicky the instructor. Come and join us at the Aquatic Centre for a gentle workout and splash around on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am if you’d like to be buoyant for an hour! Buy a 10 trip concession card for only $36.00.

Good to see lots of you at the Hope Baby Expo last weekend! If you’d like more information on my Mum’s nappies – www.yoyonappy.com

After eight weeks together learning everything we need to know as first time parents, we had our graduation night this week! Although we still have an opportunity to get together for Baby CPR next week, now it’s on to our own schedule for socializing. We have two group events planned – one is the Dad’s Group at Crusaders Sports Bar (233 Hardy Street) at 6pm Thursday 15th December and the other is the Mum’s Coffee Group at the Oasis Cafe (new visitor info centre) at 10am Friday 16th December.
