Angela’s house

Thanks to Angela for the wonderful banana cake and scones with jam & cream! Although it was another rainy day in Nelson (good for the ducks and the garden!) we had a great turnout.

Next Get-Together

Mums Monday:
10am Monday 1 May
Julie’s House
31 Crusader Drive, Ruby Bay
540-2328 | 027.654.007

Drive towards Motueka and when you hit the 70km speed area through Ruby Bay, take the road on the left – Pomona Road, then drive about 50 metres and take the road on the left – Crusader Drive. Drive right to the very end of Crusader Drive, past the roundabout with the olive tree, and up the right of way to the top of the hill. We’re the 2-storey gray house that is the second driveway on the left. Drive all the way up as there is plenty of parking in our driveway. Look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Future meetings are planned at Rochelle’s house in Stoke on May 8th (where we want to take a photo of the baby flower) and a beach walk arranged by Carole on May 15th. If you have an interesting idea for an outing somewhere baby-friendly – let Adrienne know. You may check ahead on the schedule by selecting the “Schedule” button on the menu above. Volunteer to host by sending email to Adrienne.

Active Movement Newsletter

Here are some details from the latest Active Movement newsletter:

Welcome! Hi, I am Jenny Dravitzki, the Active Movement Advisor for the Nelson and Tasman districts, based at Sport Tasman. I have lived in Nelson for 5 years and am the mother of 3 boys under 8. As a junior State swimmer and sailor I have a strong background in movement, technique and endurance. I have been a practicing nurse and midwife for the last 17 years. Midwifery, being a mother and specializing in neonates has been the catalyst to foster my passion for child development and child health. Running a GymbaRoo franchise in the Nelson region has given me the theoretical and practical skills to work with children under 5 years.
My vision for Active Movement in Nelson/Tasman is to introduce the philosophy by working alongside parents, caregivers, early childhood providers and educators, stimulating them with ideas, tips, support, research and resources to enable them to utilise the skills they already have. Active Movement is not about delivering a programme or creating extra work but increasing the range of movement in the activities that we are already doing. This year I will be organizing a series of workshops related to Active Movement and its resources for parents and anyone who works with children under 5. I also wish to develop an information database on post natal and pre school activities that are available in the region. If you have any ideas on themes for workshops that would be useful to you please email me on activemovement@nel.sporttasman.org.nz or call me on (03)546 3306.
All the best for 2006!
Jenny Dravitzki

Although the rain shut down the garden, we met inside on the couches and sipped our drinks over good conversation. Georgia wore her adorable flower hat…
