Thanks to Brigid for arranging our Rabbit Island BBQ to finish off the year. It was a rousing success with every single family still living in Nelson attending from our original Antenatal class. The babies had fun playing in the sun and the parents had some really good tucker cooked by Dan (Ayla’s Dad) and excellent shared salads. The kids played secret santa and had a pressie to open while we all took a moment to reflect on a great first year as new parents and to remain positive and excited about the year to come. We are sure to have lots of adventures in 2007 including two of our Mums being pregnant again and another will be getting married!
We’d also like to say thanks to our friends and family around the country and the world who visit our Hips & Lips site to keep up-to-date on our wee darlings. You are welcome to add your comments to our weekly postings!
Our final Mum’s Monday for the year was in the sun at Founder’s Park Cafe where we were the only patrons and therefore the babies had the run of the outdoor area and playground. Some ducks and pukeko were also wandering through giving Poppy something to chase. We look forward to meeting again in the new year to continue our support and friendships as well as socialising our beautiful wee children.

Mum’s Monday: Rabbit Island Beach
10:00am Monday 8 January
Directions: Park where we met last time – closest carpark to Nelson end of the Reserve.
Bring buckets and sand moulds for playing in the sand – this may get pretty messy!
Next year we’ll start back with Mum’s group on 8th January at the beach at Rabbit Island. We will also be arranging a Mum’s Night Out in the new year where we’ll all meet one week night at Harry’s Bar in Nelson or somewhere similar for something different!

We really appreciate the amazing morning Whitnie prepared for our December babies – Chloe, Ayla, Isaac, Finlay, Cameron and Georgie. The cake was sensational and the birthday gifts were perfect for the summer months. Rochelle has offered to host the January babies birthday celebration on Jan 15th next year. Please email Adrienne the best 1st birthday photo you take of your baby so we can post them on the website.
See you at Rabbit Island on Sunday – don’t forget to bring a Christmas gift and a plate to share. Then see you on Monday for another cafe visit…. don’t forget sunscreen & hat as we’ll be playing outside.

Family Christmas Celebration: Rabbit Island
11:00am Sunday 17 December
Directions: At the T junction at the end of the road turn left then turn first right, we’ll be somewhere along there. Bring your own food for BBQ, and other food, plates etc etc… and a salad to share. I can’t remember who but two people said they can bring their own BBQ’s – that would be great as saves us trying to use a Rabbit Island one and think they get booked out – also means we can find a nice spot. Bring a pressie for babies (around $5) and I’ll bring a ’santa sack’ to put them in. Kiddies can pick out a gift. Hopefully there’ll be some willing people to take care of the BBQ.

End of Year: Founder’s Park cafe
10:00am Monday 18 December
Remember to say at reception that you are going to the cafe and you won’t have to pay to enter the park.
To finish off the year we will meet at Founder’s Park cafe (free entry for cafe visitors) on 18 December which brings us to Christmas and New Year’s Day both falling on a Monday this year! Next year we’ll start back with Mum’s group on 8th January – yet to be decided. We will also be arranging a Mum’s Night Out in the new year where we’ll all meet one week night at Harry’s Bar in Nelson for something different!

What a wonderful rhurbarb pie! Thanks for hosting an awesome morning, Carole. We especially loved the sing-along. It was also amazing to see Annie and Fiona again!
We couldn’t quite get a shot of all the babies smiling… here are some on the verge of a meltdown.
