Julie’s House

After walking 3.5 kms to the Gardens and back and giving the kids a good play on the grass, we sampled Julie’s wonderful organic carrot cake and met Ruth while she is on nanny training.

Next week we will have a cafe visit at MacMillians with a shared morning tea picnic for the kids.  Please bring something baby-friendly to share with everyone and we’ll try this idea for the first time.  Don’t go overboard on the catering – however, I’m sure Katy the Pig will enjoy any leftovers!

Chipmunks Adventure Playground

The weather was a little wet so we diverted to Chipmunks for a good play session. The girls enjoyed playing house while the boys rode around. Then we discovered the big slide!

Next week we are going on a walk?in Miyazu Gardens with coffee and cake at Julie’s House – we’ll get back to Natureland some other time.

I’ve asked everyone for their birthday months so we can start planning some more dessert nights. Let’s pencil in Thursday 31 May from 7.30pm for Rochelle’s birthday. No gifts or cards expected - just a good reason to have a fancy dessert & a glass of wine at a restaurant we might not have been to before. We will DEFINITELY make the birthday girl wear a party hat for a photo though!

Washbourn Gardens

The babies loved all the ducks at Washbourn Gardens.

Next week we are meeting at Natureland in Tahuna where we will explore the animal park. Bring $5 each & strollers etc. We may stop for a coffee at the Beach Cafe you feel like it after our tour. I confirmed with the management that kids under 2 are free.

Next week is Real Nappy Week across the country so now is the time to consider buying a couple of cloth nappies to save the planet a little. Even if you use just one cloth nappy a day to replace a disposable you are making a difference in the volume of waste each baby contributes to our landfills. See the stall at the Richmond Mall for more info and good savings on locally-made nappies. There was a page in this week’s Leader about it. Also, you can check out an online forum at http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/ for more info and advice.

Whitnie’s House & Mum’s Night Out

Fun in the sun at Whitnie’s house this week – the kids had a splash in Ayla’s pool and then played on her ride-on toys in the back yard.  Congratulations to Whitnie on her new bump!

Here is a photo of Isaac, Ayla and Poppy at Music & More, Richmond New Life Cafe, Wensley Road on Tuesday mornings.

Our first Mum’s Night Out at Bardelicious was a sweet success and everyone voted to have another Dessert Night SOOOON! Happy Birthday to Adrienne as well.

Next week we are about due for another walk – let’s meet at the Washbourne Gardens carpark in Richmond (on Oxford Street opposite Oxford Cafe).  We’ll go for a short stroll up Queen, turn on Hunter, down Farnham and then back through the gardens to feed the ducks and play on the grass.  Bring your own coffee/refreshments or zip over the road for a take-out coffee from Oxford Cafe.  Don’t forget something to sit on and something to feed the ducks.
