The aquarium was a wonderful learning experience for the babies…. they were certainly all very confident in this dark and watery environment. I know several of them tried to get into the water with the fish!
The Just About Kids Clothing Sale on Friday was really good value. Whitnie and Adrienne are planning to put clothes in to the next one in October… perhaps you have some baby clothes, shoes, blankets, bags, prams, cots, maternity clothes etc that you’d like to label and submit as well? Maybe we could submit them together and pay one lot of $10 instead of each going separately. Adrienne will coordinate this effort and let you know when to bring your second-hand gear to her house.

Directions: If you’re coming from Nelson go along Salisbury Road, past Waimea College, left up William Street, past the Catholic Church on the right then Right down Roeske Street, Hebberd Place is right off Roeske Street. The numbering system is weird on our street but we are at the end of the cul-de-sac, big white stucco house, green letter box. Come up the front stairs. Oh yes, we have two driveways so please use them!

Meet at Aquarium ($7.50 entry). It’s hard to take buggies in there and probably not a good place to leave them all outside. After the fish experience, there’ll be coffee and cake back at Mel’s place for those who want to drive up.

Stoke Plunket Rooms Upgrade
Mandy now has a great team working with her on the clinic upgrade. We have the Stoke Young Mum’s group waiting in the wings for the rooms to be improved and the new playground developed. Parenting Education
Plunket provides a free parenting education programme, called PEPE. There are different courses, depending on the age of your child. The courses are aimed at supporting you in your parenting role through the different stages of your child’s development. Why not come and meet new mothers and fathers from your community in a facilitated group to explore the joys and challenges of parenting.
Your New Baby –antenatal covering the first 6 weeks following baby’s birth
Your Growing Baby—6 weeks to 1 year
Your Active Toddler—between 1 & 2
Your Curious Preschooler—between 3 & 4
Courses are usually covered in 2 hour sessions over 3-6 weeks depending on which course you attend. Please contact Sonya to register your interest. Courses are run based on demand.
Your growing baby will run in Nelson and Richmond in Term 2.
Piggy Back Cards
Piggy Back classes are held every Tuesday (during term time only) at 10am. It involves a 45min walk with baby in pushchair or backpack, then the staff at the Aquatic Centre mind baby for you while you do an aqua aerobics class or swim lengths. The classes usually retail for $10 each but thanks to generous subsidies from us and the Aquatic Centre we can offer, exclusive to Plunket service users, a 6 session card for just $25 Yes, that’s five sessions at $5 each and one for FREE! Please contact the Aquatic centre to receive your card.

A great opportunity to support parents to enhance positive parenting practices. We are looking for dynamic group facilitators with excellent communication skills to facilitate sessions in our Parenting Education Programme. To be successful in this role you will be an experienced facilitator with a good knowledge of group dynamics and have the ability to interact with a variety of people.

Area Appeal Coordinator
Plunket has an exciting part time vacancy for an Area Appeal Coordinator. This position will coordinate the Annual Appeal at an Area level ensuring it runs smoothly, deadlines are met and the Area maximises its fundraising and promotional potential. This includes liaising with Branch/Entity Appeal Coordinators to ensure Appeal preparation and implementation is undertaken efficiently. 9 ParuParu Rd, Nelson Rooms open: Friday 11-2pm Need a break from the Friday shopping? The Nelson Plunket Centre is a great place to stop and have a breather and is a wonderful resource. Playgroups
Plunket has playgroups in Wakefield, Nelson, Richmond. Young Mum groups are also available in Stoke and Motueka. A toddlers group is also available in Nelson. We are looking to starting a group for at home dads. Are you interested? Please contact Sonya to find out more information on any of these. We are also on the look out for any unneeded toys suitable for the playgroups. In particular the Young Mum’s group in Stoke require ride ons.
Welcome aboard and thank you to all of our new volunteers last term. In particular to the Nelson College for Girls Guidance class who have contributed an hour per week to helping with administration tasks. Much appreciated!

The pool was heaps of fun – the babies splashed each other and played peek-a-boo etc.
Enjoy a morning out with your children at the Little Eagles Holiday Playcentre at Richmond New Life Church, Tuesday 17th April between 9.30am-12 noon. $4 per family. Tea and coffee provided – bring your own food for kids morning tea. Qualified supervisors on premises, but children will be the responsibility of their caregiver. Any questions phone Megan Wright 544-4350.
