Nadine’s house

 It was exciting to see Nadine’s new house in the country and hear about her plans for renovations.  Isaac had a haircut as the kids played with all his toys inside. And thanks for warming things up, Nadine! We had a great time and Isaac looks AMAZING after his haircut!

We’ve been talking about our 2007 Christmas Party at Rabbit Island and we are hoping to hire a bouncy castle and invite Grandparents this year as well.  We will decide on a date in the next few weeks so you can add it to your calendar.  Let Adrienne know if you have a definite conflict during weekends in December.

This week I’ve arranged a choice for those not too excited about exercising. From around 11am we will all have coffee and let the kids play together in the Way2Go programme room at the Cambridge Street Richmond Resource Centre (bring $2). Before that at 10am, those who wish to walk with the Baby & Buggy team – let’s move it!  The others can take advantage of both the playgrounds next door in your own time – the Plunket Rooms playground and/or the corner playground – until we get back from walking.  The library is across the road too if you want to visit there (<- good changing room). If the weather is bad, the Way2Go girls will present an inside version of their Baby & Buggy walk that will suit everyone – even you preggy girls!

Chipmunks

Chipmunks was fun again – Ayla and Poppy went down the big slide by themselves!

Next week we will visit Nadine’s new house in Lee Valley.  Please bring warm clothes and slippers for the kids as it is quite cold in the mornings.  Directions follow.

Next Get-Together

Mums Monday: Nadine’s House, Lee Valley
10:00am Monday 30 July
Directions: Turn left at the Brightwater pub, going up Lee Valley Rd you’ll drive for about 7mins up that Rd – don’t turn off anywhere. Go past the guide camp, past the first small Lee Valley reserve and carry on for a bit then you’ll come up to a bend with a wooden sign saying O’Neill’s Bush. Around that corner you’ll see a concrete bridge on the left called Mead Rd Bridge (go past that not over it). Look straight ahead along the road and there’s a white house below the road – that’s us! Persico is on the letter box at the top of the drive. There’s room for cars at the bottom. If you get to the Quarry you’ve gone too far – you’ll lose cell phone coverage around the girl guide camp so go back to there if you need to ring. Please wrap up warm as being in the valley we don’t get the sun till 11.30am. Bring your slippers if you get cold feet on wooden floors….. All going we’ll see you Monday!

Future get-togethers include an outing to a park near Whitnie’s in Nelson. We will also celebrate Carole and Julie’s birthdays in October with a dessert night. If you have an interesting idea for an outing somewhere baby-friendly – let Adrienne know. You may check ahead on the schedule by selecting the Schedule button on the website. Mel’s House

Amid amazing rennovations, Mel served a wonderful morning tea and taught the children their alphabet.

It was also great to meet again for Dessert Night – especially awesome that Brigid managed to get out to see us all less than 2 weeks after having Thora!

Next week we will play at Chipmunks again since PlayDaze doesn’t want to open for us on a Monday morning.  They have confirmed our entry is discounted to $3 again – please mention Hips & Lips to receive this discount.

Plunket Newsletter – Nelson Tasman Term 3

Meeting of Richmond Plunket’s Future
July 20th 10am  Richmond Plunket Rooms
Richmond Plunket have decided to cease operating as a committee and become a community support group. This means that although they are free to carry on supporting Plunket they will no longer have financial control over Richmond Plunket’s funds. All spending in Richmond will need approval from a committee overseeing Nelson Tasman Bays. We are therefore holding a public meeting to see if this is what you want to happen. Whilst the current members are all keen to stay on and be involved in fundraising they no longer want to hold office bearer positions. To stay as a committee Richmond Plunket will need a new secretary, treasurer and president. Training is available. If you are interested in any of these roles or would like more information please come along to the meeting or contact Sonya. Meetings can happen in the evenings also depending what the committee would prefer so please say if you are interested but can’t make daytime meetings. All committees would love new members so if you would like to become involved and have a great time doing it contact Sonya today.

What do Plunket volunteer committees actually do?

Here are some of the things a committee could do to support children and parents…

• Organise activities for caregivers, such as coffee groups/parent education sessions/social events;
• Advocate for children in the community;
• Organise fundraising so that Plunket can maintain its facilities and services;
• Co-ordinate collectors for Annual Appeal in October;
• Arrange any maintenance on the Plunket Rooms;
• Encourage new volunteers and work as a team – so much is achievable!
